Adulterated Paneer Manufacturing Unit Raided in Pune
In a major crackdown, the Unit 6 and of Pune crime branch and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a joint raid on a manufacturing unit producing adulterated paneer in Pune’s Manik Nagar area.
The raid, which took place on March 7, 2025, was led by Police Inspector Wahid Pathan and his team, including Sachin Pawar and Ramesh Memane. The team seized approximately 1,500 kg of adulterated paneer, 500 kg of GMS powder, 1,800 kg of SMP powder, and 718 liters of palm oil, valued at ₹11,56,690.
Samples of the adulterated paneer were sent for testing, and the remaining stock was destroyed. The FDA will conduct further investigations and take legal action against the unit owners.
The raid was a result of a tip-off received by the police, and it highlights the ongoing efforts of the Pune Police and FDA to curb food adulteration in the city.
The FDA has appealed to citizens to be cautious while purchasing food products and to report any instances of adulteration to the authorities.
The raid was conducted under the guidance of joint commissioner Rahul Khase of FDA and Deputy commissioner of police Nikhil Pingle ( crime branch) .Police inspector Bahid Pathan and his team Police Sub Inspector Madan kamble, police constable Kanifnath Karkhele, Rishikesh Vyavahare initiated the action.
